Following the death of the 12-year-old boy, Sylvester Oromoni, the Lagos State Government has ordered the indefinite closure of the boy’s school, Dowen College in a bid to get to the root of the incident that killed him.
A statement signed by the Assistant Director, Public Affairs, of the Lagos State Ministry of Education read:
“The Lagos State Government has ordered the indefinite closure of Dowen College, Lekki, pending the outcome of an investigation into the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, a student of the school.
Commissioner for Education Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo announced the closure after a meeting with the School Management and Staff.
“The Commissioner called for calm, saying no effort will be spared in getting to the root of the incident.”
The indefinite shutting of the school by the state government comes a few hours after the school management, in a letter directed to parents notified on a planned shutting of the school for three days owing to the tension surrounding Sylvester Oromoni’s death.
